HEALTH & SAFETY

The Gas Company operates a formal approved Health and Safety Management System (H.S.M.S)

The H.S.M.S provides our organisation with the means to manage health and safety in an efficient and effective manner. The manual contains our plans, policies, procedures, organisation and risk management tools. Adopting this formal approach to Health and Safety clearly demonstrates that we recognise the importance of good Health & Safety management and the ultimate benefits this can deliver especially for staff and public safety.

The Gas Company has a very strong health and safety culture and Health & Safety within the company is driven from the top down and always remains at the top of our business agenda.

We employ a dedicated Health & Safety Consultant to provide us with advice and guidance on Health & Safety matters and legislation.

All directors, managers, supervisors and employees recognise and fully accept their responsibilities for health and safety.

All staff are given health and safety training as part of the induction process and ongoing health and safety training is provided by our Health & Safety Consultants.

All site staff are required to completed a CSCS or ECS Health & Safety qualification as part of our Health & Safety strategy.

The Gas Company has attained CHAS and SAFE CONTRACTOR accreditation. 

ENVIRONMENTAL

It is recognised that as a company The Gas Company have the primary responsibility for providing a safe and healthy environment for everyone that may be affected by its operations.

Our environmental objectives are to ensure that we conduct our operations with due consideration to sustainability and the limited use of natural resources, as well as complying with all legal requirements to prevent damage to the environment

The Gas Company understands the importance of environmental issues and commits itself to work towards processes and practices that have least impact, or do not impact the environment. We will adopt practices to control environmental impacts, prevent pollution and minimise other negative effects so far as is practical, consistent with its business aims.

The Gas Company will ensure that its suppliers (of goods and services) meet acceptable environmental standards. The Gas Company is committed to actively encourage its suppliers to improve their environmental performance.

The Gas Company will promote environmental awareness and responsibilities with all The Gas Company employees and include environmental issues in Company training programmes.

The Gas Company will at all times strive to be a good neighbour through open relationships with local communities and Authorities.

We take the following actions to help minimise the short and long term environmental impact of our operations:

  • We separate and recycle waste materials

  • Travel and carbon emissions - A vehicle replacement programme is in operation and old vehicles are being replaced with new low emission vehicles.

  • All vehicles are fitted with vehicle management systems (Trackers) enabling us to select our nearest engineer to each request. This system ensures not only a reduction in mileage and carbon emissions, but also provides a speedier and more efficient service for our customers.

  • We actively promote the use of new energy efficient technologies and products.

  • We operate a switch off and save policy to reduce energy waste.
